Handmade Woolly Bobble Hats!

All our gorgeous accessories are 100% wool and made by hand in Nepal. So why Nepal?  There are plenty of sheep in Wales, aren't there?  Well, it all stems back to a few years ago, when exploring Nepal. We spent a lot of  time in the local villages and were inspired by the way the individual communities bond and help each other out.  There is huge respect between the artisans and a great skill set that wasn't being used to its full potential. 

We met a guy called Kanchan, who had his own handicraft and clothing business.  He told us that he had set up micro businesses in the communities to utilize traditional skills and to provide an income to mainly stay at home women who were unable to leave the villages as they were looking after children and elders. They are committed to fair wage, fair trade and say a BIG NO to any child labour or animal cruelty.

Out of the money he makes he donates 10% to the rural schools and communities for computer literacy programs in order to improve knowledge and confidence. He said that it's important to give back to the communities in order that they have sustainable growth. 

We love what Kanchan and his team do, so wanted to be involved with this sustainability project. So, that's why we get all our handmade items from Nepal. They are made to our design and colour palette and really are the warmest cosiest woollies you will ever wear. They all slightly vary in pattern or colour which is the joy of hand made items.   All have an eco lining so they are not at itchy or scratchy. Just remember if you want to wash them then they should be hand washed in cold water and left to air dry.
